Lymph nodes (glands) play a vital role in the body's ability to fight off viruses, bacteria, toxins and other
causes of illnesses. Some 600 lymph nodes are situated throughout the human body, with the majority located in the head and neck. The lymph nodes that most frequently swell are in the neck, under the chin, in the armpits and in the groin.
